Neuromuscular Neurology  Practice Opportunity

Join Northeastern Ontario’s health care leader

Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN) is recruiting health care professionals who have a keen interest in affecting change within its dynamic health care system. As the tertiary care referral centre for the entire Northeastern Ontario region,
HSN serves a catchment population of over 600,000 residents.

The Service of Neurology at HSN is currently recruiting a permanent full-time neurologist with neuromuscular fellowship training to complement our team.

The practice is that of both general and neuromuscular neurology. The successful applicant will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and follow up of patients with neurologic and neuromuscular disease. They will provide equal participation in service on-call coverage responsibilities and facilitate EMGs and nerve conduction studies. English language skills are required, French language skills would be considered an asset. Practice locations will include HSN’s Main Site (41 Ramsey Lake Rd., Sudbury) and Health Sciences North Outpatient Services (865 Regent St., Sudbury). The successful applicant is expected to set up a private community practice and will be responsible for setting up any and all aspects related to their private practice (location to be determined). Average compensation ranges from $300,000-$320,000 per year via fee-for-service billings through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Candidates must have obtained specialty certification in Neurology with additional Neuromuscular fellowship training, have Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists—CSCN (or equivalent) EMG Certification, and be eligible for licensure in Ontario.

All physicians are required to seek academic appointment at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM-U), and become involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Research opportunities are also available with HSN’s research institute, HSNRI.

If you are currently practicing or within one year of graduating, and are interested in opportunities in Sudbury, the Ministry of Health’s Community Assessment Visit Program will cover travel and accommodation expenses for both you and your spouse to come and explore the practice opportunity and the City of Greater Sudbury.
