General Surgery (2 Positions)

Brockville General Hospital BGH is recruiting 2 general surgeons:

• One General Surgeon as permanent full-time position
• One General Surgeon as a temporary term position for the period January 1 to December 31, 2024

Brockville General Hospital is a 160 bed, community hospital, serving a referral area of 125,000.  Surgical program services include Anesthesiology (5) / Obstetrics & Gynecology (3) / Ophthalmology (2) Orthopedics (4) and Urology (2).  BGH has 5 Operating Rooms and 1 endoscopy suite to support general surgery.  BGH has Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with remote access along with a full complement of diagnostic services (including CT) and a new MRI that is expected to be operational in the Spring of 2024.  BGH is supported by a tertiary care centre 1 hour away i.e., Kingston Health Science Centre.

The city of Brockville (pop. 22,000) is located on the St. Lawrence River, in the beautiful Thousand Islands region.  Driving distances:  Kingston 75 km / Ottawa 110 km / Montreal 210 km / Toronto 350 km.  The perfect place to practice and play.

General Surgery Practice Profile

• You will be one of 6 General Surgeons (5 Full-time Equivalents)
• 1 in 5 Call (average)
• Equal access to elective operating room and endoscopy each week

Qualifications

• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (FRCPS)
• Have, or eligible for, Independent Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Minimally Invasive Surgery experience - gallbladder / bowel / hernia
• Breast Surgery experience
• Endoscopy experience
