IWK Health is recruiting a leader for the IWK Health Department of Pediatric Anesthesia. This position is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and accomplished individual with demonstrated leadership, clinical and academic credibility, and strategic vision to direct and manage clinical and academic affairs in the department within an integrated health system.  

As Chief of IWK Department of Pediatric Anesthesia, they will be responsible to the CEO through the Vice President Medicine, Quality & Safety for all administration and functioning of the IWK department and will work in partnership with the directors of the Children’s Health Program to ensure the effective provision of pediatric anesthesia services. As the Dalhousie University Department of Anesthesia’s lead in pediatric anesthesia, they will be responsible to the Head of the Dalhousie University Department of Anesthesia for all academic activities of the department and its members.

This role requires dynamic leadership and vision in clinical and academic domains, together with management skills to affect excellence in care, education, and research within available resources, and to align strategically and operationally within an integrated health system. The incumbent must negotiate, nurture, and leverage opportunities to maximize productivity through collaboration, partnership, and integration of academic and clinical practice. The successful candidate must be a licensed physician eligible to be registered with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the province of Nova Scotia.
