MALIGNANT HEMATOLOGIST - OAKVILLE TRAFALGAR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

The Department of Medicine at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is recruiting a Malignant Hematologist for a full-time position.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is a new state-of-the-art, 1.6 million sq. ft. full-service acute care community hospital located in Oakville, Ontario (30 minutes west of Toronto or 20 minutes east of Hamilton). Over the last four years we have expanded the scope and volume of services provided by our cancer clinic and now have a team of three medical oncologists together with our two established malignant hematologists.

The scope of practice will be predominantly malignant hematology with a smaller component of benign hematologic conditions. The successful applicant will provide inpatient hematology consultation and cross-coverage of benign and malignant hematology inpatients in rotation with our four existing hematologists and will be supported by a nurse practitioner. Participation in the internal medicine call schedule will also be required.

The selected candidate will have access to outpatient clinic time in the hospital for consultations, procedures, phlebotomy, transfusions and infusions. There is an expectation that the candidate will provide care to Halton residents in a community-based office practice.

Candidates must have an independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). They must have fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Internal Medicine and have completed additional training in Malignant Hematology. Halton Healthcare is affiliated with McMaster University and offers teaching opportunities. The successful candidates will also be closely aligned with the Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program and will be expected to participate in regional Multidisciplinary Case Conferences and regional quality improvement initiatives.  Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team based and inter-professional care are essential.

Remuneration will be through the Provincial Oncology Alternate Funding Plan (POAFP).
