ACADEMIC POSITION – Clinician Teacher

The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University and London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre is seeking a full-time Clinician Teacher.

The Division of Infectious Diseases currently has 7 full-time members and has a fully certified Royal College Subspecialty Training Program.

The successful candidate is expected to have completed training in Infectious Diseases.  Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent.  Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).  The successful candidate will hold a limited term academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a continuing academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor depending on qualifications and experience.  Information about the Department of Medicine and Division of Infectious Diseases may be found at: https://www.schulich.uwo.ca/deptmedicine/

The Division of Infectious Diseases at London Health Sciences Center and St Joseph’s Health Care London has a comprehensive array of services encompassing the full spectrum of adult infectious diseases, infection control, antimicrobial stewardship and a clinical and basic sciences research program.  A busy outpatient Infectious Diseases program cares for patients living with HIV and those with General Infectious Diseases issues.  Outreach clinics are carried out in the local penitentiary and in an Inner-City clinic caring for marginalized patients.  Teaching is a priority with a Royal College Certified Infectious Diseases Training Program and also training of both Undergraduate Medical Students as well as Internal Medicine Residents.  A Transplant Infectious Diseases Subspecialty group provides specialized care and a specialized postdoctoral training program.  Our Infectious Diseases programs provide care for a large catchment area of approximately 2 million.

Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance in teaching, research, health care leadership, qualifications (including subspecialty and enhanced training), experience and interpersonal skills. .  Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of a competitive alternative funding and payment plan, and academic salary.
