Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Physiatry or PM&R) Physician, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as part of Rehab Service and Complex Continuing Care

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community based academic health network in Ontario serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region, and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), Mississauga Hospital (MH), and Queensway Health Centre (QHS) – offering a full range of acute care hospital services, post-acute hospital services, as well as a variety of community-based specialized programs. The Credit Valley Hospital provides regional services for dialysis and Oncology together with Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Center-oncology care.

As part of our growing post-acute care model, Trillium supports a variety of inpatient rehabilitation units, including 35 beds at CVH, 40 beds at M site, 23 stroke beds at M site, and a large platform of reactivation care and complex continuing care beds at our Moir Family Centre and McCall Centre locations.

The Divisions of Rehab and Complex Continuing Care at Trillium Health Partners is seeking two (2) Part-Time Associate & one (1) Locum Tenens Physiatrist to join their innovative and exciting multidisciplinary team in a robust team-based care model. The expected start date is Fall 2023 or shortly thereafter. These positions are best suited for those who have experience in general rehabilitation (MSK and Neuro) and have a keen interest in the following patients admitted to a Neuro-Musculature rehabilitation unit.

  • Amputee rehabilitation population. The physiatrist will participate as a consultant in a shared-care model of practice alongside a Hospitalist service on an inpatient rehab unit. The position is best suited for those who demonstrate willingness to collaborate with other sub-specialist groups, for example, Orthopedic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Prosthetics, Orthotics, etc.; or
  • Chronic pain population. This particular position will focus on developing a physiatric consultation service available to acute care, the reactivation care centre, and complex continuing care patient populations, for management of a variety of physiatric conditions, complication prevention, and guidance on chronic pain management. This position will expand across all three main hospital sites. The position is best suited for those who demonstrate willingness to collaborate with other sub-specialist groups, for example, emergency physicians, interventionalists, acute care physicians, intensive care units, etc.

The successful candidates must hold an MD degree, have, or be eligible for, certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
