Vice President, Academics

Osler will also play a critical role in the development of Ontario’s next net-new Medical School, in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), and as part of its transition to an Academic Health Centre. Working in collaboration with Physician Leaders and TMU, the Vice President, Academics (VPA) will play a critical strategic leadership role in the exciting transformation of Osler into an Academic Health Centre. Serving as a leader in the teaching and academic operations and reporting to the Chief of Staff & Executive Vice President, Academics & Medical Affairs, the VPA will bring significant background and experience leading the ongoing development of medical education programming and planning. This position provides strategic direction for teaching and academic operations, will look for new opportunities for program development and expansion, and will be accountable for administrative oversight to meet the needs of medical learners and to ensure their academic success.


The ideal candidate will be a highly esteemed leader and educator, renowned for proficiently managing academic administration, possessing extensive experience in hospital/healthcare settings, and exhibiting exceptional interpersonal abilities. With an MD designation, the VPA boasts a history of pioneering leadership within healthcare academia, emphasizing present and future trends in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and a desire to champion learners. Additionally, they excel as a strong communicator, are adept at transforming strategy into actionable plans, and are devoted to cultivating an inclusive and progressive academic environment at William Osler Health System.
