General Surgeon, Acute Care and Trauma Services

Position profile – Saskatchewan Health Authority – Saskatoon and University Saskatchewan, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery seek an academic General Surgeon for Acute Care Surgery and Trauma services. Collective responsibilities include clinical care of inpatients and outpatients and education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. The successful candidate will have appointments in both Saskatchewan Health Authority and the University of Saskatchewan, where teaching of surgical residents and medical students is integral. Full participation in both the acute care and trauma surgery rosters is required.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interdisciplinary competence as demonstrated by active participation in multidisciplinary rounds.

Qualifications/Requirements of the position – The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Surgery of Canada (RCPSC) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). Completion of a MIS Fellowship is required as well as valid ATLS certification. In addition, preference will be given to applicants with a commitment to Trauma/ACS research, upper and lower GI endoscopy proficiency and clinical simulation experience.
