Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is a 300+ bed acute care facility boasting stable, state-of-the-art Programs within a team environment and with a dedicated staff that ensures high-level, patient-focused care. The organization comprises of two main hospital sites, the Brantford General Hospital and Willet Hospital. Located in the picturesque Grand River Valley 20 minutes west of Hamilton, our community offers outstanding recreational opportunities.  

BCHS is the area’s acute care facility, providing all of Brantford and Brant County's specialty programs and services for our 120,000+ residents and boasts stable, state-of-the-art programs within a team environment that ensures high level patient-focused care. With over 63,000 ER visits, 1,400 births, a level 2B special care nursery, and 300+ beds at the Brantford General Hospital, plus over 16,000 urgent care visits and 32-beds at The Willett, BCHS is also an affiliated teaching site of the McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.

As designated Level II prenatal community based hospital, the department manages the obstetrical unit (average 1,400 deliveries annually) and generalist obstetrical cases. Typical gynecological caseload includes laparoscopic hysterectomies, routine prolapse repairs, hysteroscopies, colposcopies etc.

The BCHS Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a collegial team of obstetricians that is looking for a locum tenens Obstetrician/Gynecologist to provide coverage for six months from October 2024 to March 2025. The successful candidate will be providing coverage as a locum including Operating Room, ACU clinic time and will participate in the OB/GYNE on-call in accordance with the department schedule as well as clinic time in the community.

This position represents an opportunity to join a group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a progressive organization. Interested physicians must have independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and an obstetrics and gynecology fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent (e.g. American Board).

As a McMaster University Mac-CARE teaching site for the Grand Erie Six Nations, the successful candidate would be expected to participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners thus excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to an inter-professional care model are also essential.
