The Department of Pediatrics at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of General Pediatrician at Brockville General Hospital. This role and the successful incumbent’s time will be heavily focused on clinical service in the field of pediatrics.
The successful incumbent will focus on providing community-based consultative practice including out-patient clinic coverage in Brockville as well as on call and labor delivery suite coverage. The on-call rotation is 1 in 3 and there are approximately 300 deliveries annually.
As a joint appointee with Queen’s University, the incumbent will be part of Brockville General’s Women and Children’s Department which is currently comprised of two pediatricians, a general practitioner who practices pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, and three obstetrician/gynecologists.
In addition to clinical services (85-90%), academic responsibilities (5%) include participation in academic contributions including local educational activities at Brockville General Hospital upon request. Participation in Queen’s University and Brockville General Hospital’s CME annual events as well as research collaboration and quality improvement initiatives may also be required. The incumbent will play a vital role in administration (5-10%) by providing local leadership and participation in local and Faculty committees upon request.
The successful candidate will bring clinical expertise, a commitment to quality and patient-centered care and possess the ability to create meaningful connections with patients in the community of Brockville.
Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and have completed postgraduate qualifications in general Pediatrics prior to appointment. Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Pediatrics (RCSPC) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
