The Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology in the Department of Medicine at the University Health Network (UHN) is seeking to recruit energetic and innovative full-time clinical associates with expertise in Medical Oncology and/or Clinical Hematology. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2018, or shortly thereafter.
A family physician or internist will be interested in this opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team of medical and hematological oncologists, clinical associates, nursing and allied health staff dedicated to providing first-rate care to patients with a variety of malignancies. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated passion for the medical care of cancer patients. We will provide training in the clinical care of oncology patients and offer opportunities for further professional development, as well as the ability to enhance your clinical skills and leadership experience within a comprehensive cancer centre setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care, supervising and teaching residents/fellows, nursing and allied health staff.
DMOH at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is the largest such program in Canada, and is among the largest in North America. Comprised of about seventy senior physicians, the program is supported by outstanding institutional infrastructure, pathology, medical imaging, molecular diagnostics and clinical genomics programs and, by a wide medical and allied-health multidisciplinary team. The program supports extensive clinical, translational, and basic research initiatives including a large clinical trials program. Additionally, the Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology supports a comprehensive training program attracting both national and international fellows.
The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre includes the Ontario Cancer Institute (OCI), a world-class basic and translational research institute with particular strengths in Genomics, Immunology, Stem Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, and Cell Therapeutics. The close association between clinicians and scientists within the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and OCI, provides the opportunity for collaborations on disease biology and the development of innovative and informative translational studies, allowing the applicant to achieve the goal of bench-to-bedside medicine. Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree. The successful applicant must have, or be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Compensation will depend on the amount of clinical work performed (estimate based on fee-for-service billings and other sources of compensation) but will be in the usual range for an experienced Hospitalist/Internist in the Province of Ontario, with a guaranteed minimum of $200,000 per year plus incentives commensurate with qualifications, and experience. The successful candidate must be able to function proficiently in English.
