As Corporate Chief of the Department of Surgery, you will report to the Chief of Staff and be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of clinical practice within the Department. Additionally, as the Co-Medical Director of the Surgical Program, you will report to the Vice President, Medical Affairs and manage key operations within the Surgical Program, in collaboration with the Senior Vice President, Patient Services and Administrative Program Director. A critical component of the role will relate to planning and implementing the progressive expansion of surgical services on all three sites. As an engaged member of the Medical Advisory Committee, the Corporate Chief and Co-Medical Director’s responsibilities include quality assurance, performance management and resource utilization for the Department across all sites.

In addition to having previously demonstrated a high level of competency in the provision of surgical services, you have a commitment to excellent clinical care and surgical services and have shown an ability to enhance the quality and efficiency of surgical care. You are able to develop sound working relationships with your colleagues and understand the importance of research, innovation and education to patient care. You are an outstanding collaborator and communicator, with demonstrated leadership experience in a large complex health care organization.

The successful applicant must be a practicing surgeon, licensed to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold a fellowship in Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
