Executive Director, Quality, Patient Safety and Health System Integration

William Osler Health System (Osler) is seeking a dynamic physician to fulfil the exciting new opportunity of Executive Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Health System Integration. The Executive Director will provide leadership to support the ongoing development and implementation of a corporate quality, safety and enterprise-wide risk management program.  

Reporting jointly to the Executive Vice President, Quality, Medical and Academic Affairs and the Chief of Staff, the Executive Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Health System Integration will provide leadership to the Osler Professional Staff community and work collaboratively with the inter-professional team on all matters related to quality of care, patient safety and the implementation of the quality improvement methodologies to guide local and corporate improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with the Quality portfolio and Enterprise Risk Service, Patient Experience Team, Professional Practice and Physician Leadership, the Executive Director will make recommendations for the monitoring of key medical quality and patient safety indicators and promote a culture of patient safety and quality improvement throughout the organization. He/She will be a mentor to the four (4) newly developed Osler Physician Quality Champions.

The Executive Director is responsible for quality and patient safety planning, quality                     improvement, patient experience strategy and critical incident management through the participation in the development of short and long-term strategies/objectives and implementation of the hospital Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).  He/she shall also ensure the organizations compliance with the Excellent Care for All Act and adoption of the Health Quality Ontario (HQO) best practice recommendations, guidelines and care plans. 

The Executive Director will be expected to participate in hospital based clinical care and to be a member of the Associate or Active staff at the hospital. The ideal candidate will have well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills, an influential leadership style, adaptive and demonstrated personal resilience, experience with quality improvement teamwork and project management and be knowledgeable in clinical quality improvement theory, methods and tools. This position will require a time commitment of 2 days per week, for which a stipend will be provided.
