Northern Health is seeking an experienced GP-Anesthetist in Fort St. John. Put your enhanced skills training to good use in this varied and diverse practice opportunity!

The selected candidate will work 2 days/week in the OR, plus anesthesia call 1/5 days. Emergency shifts or Primary Care can fill the remaining days.

The new Fort St. John Hospital and Residential Care opened in 2012. The facility has 55 acute care beds and 123 residential care beds with approximately 22,000 emergency visits per year.

North Peace Care Clinic, an 87 bed residential complex care facility offering health services, including:

The Fort St. John Primary Care Clinic opened in 2014 and is run with an inter-professional team including 7 physicians, nurse practitioner, primary care nurses, assistants and coordinators, mental health and addictions clinician, social worker and dietitian.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture, and the vitality of its residents who are keen to live and work in a community that gives back so much. Fort St. John sits high above the spectacular Peace River Valley, Northwest of Dawson Creek and Southeast of Fort Nelson, where endless patchwork quilts of cropland melt into the horizon. The population is 19,000, but serves an area population of 69,000. Fort St. John is the hub of the Northeast with a new cultural center and library, theatre and art space. The main industries are agriculture, forestry, natural gas, construction and trucking. In order to be eligible for British Columbia licensure your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Post graduate training must be obtained from an accredited and approved training program in a jurisdiction sanctioned by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
