Position profile – Saskatchewan Health Authority – Saskatoon and University Saskatchewan, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) is seeking to grow further with the addition of five new members.   The Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) is a large, young, and growing Division within Saskatchewan Health Authority – Saskatoon Area and the University of Saskatchewan.  The fee-for-service compensation is nationally competitive. We offer the full range of GIM rotations including a robust in-patient Most Responsible Physician service, consultation rotations, and we strongly encourage and will accommodate an interest in out-patient clinic practice.  Because of the large size of the Division, we offer an attractive on-call rotation. We maintain a strong teaching presence on the majority of our in-patient rotas and our physicians are routinely winners of teaching awards. We have several private-practice offices within the city that have room for additional GIM physicians.

Qualifications/Requirements of the position – Preference will be given to candidates with Canadian Royal College Certification or eligibility for certification in General Internal Medicine.

The University - The beautiful University of Saskatchewan campus is located on the shores of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, a city with a diverse and thriving economic base and a vibrant cultural life. The UofS is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex (http://library.usask.ca/hsl/new-building.php) and two of the largest science projects in the country – the Canadian Light Source synchrotron (www.lightsource.ca) and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine Centre (www.vido.org). A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
