6 Month Locum Opportunity (or portion thereof) 

 
The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is urgently seeking an Anesthesiologist to fill a six month locum vacancy. Applicants interested in a portion of this time frame are encouraged to apply. 

Funding for this opportunity is supported by the Rural Specialist Locum Program and includes:

• $1,500 guaranteed minimum daily income
• 12.6% additional rural retention premium
• MOCAP
• Travel and accommodation

The Department of Anesthesia at UHNBC provides anesthetic services to a wide range of surgical specialties such as general surgery including Whipple`s procedure and Esophagectomy, Urology, Orthopaedic, Plastic, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, 24 hours Epidural Service and Vascular surgery. The current on call commitment is approximately 1 in 8.

The hospital has an accredited level 3 trauma unit and the Intensive Care Unit is an integral part of this.The Northern Simulation Centre is housed within the Hospital and is an opportunity for those wishing to get involved in Sim-Lab. 

UHNBC is the regional hospital for northern BC serving both the immediate population of Prince George (population approx. 80,000) and is the referral center for outlying communities (total population approx. 300,000). It is the main teaching center for medical students in the UBC Northern Medical Program and provides teaching for UBC residents in several specialties. The BC Cancer Centre for the North is located on the hospital site and provides both radiation and medical oncology services. The ongoing development of UHNBC as a regional center and teaching center makes this an exciting time to join the medical community in Prince George.

In order to be eligible for licensure in BC, your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Post graduate training must be obtained from an accredited and approved training program in a jurisdiction sanctioned by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
