Family Practitioner

Northern Health is seeking a Family Physician with rural skills/experience to join 5 physicians at a well-established, broad spectrum family medicine clinic. The expected commitment is 4 days/week (32 hours) in the clinic/office as well as hospital in-patient work. Clinic compensation is based on a blended funding model with hourly remuneration. In addition to clinic work there is opportunity for Fee For Service income opportunities, including:

  • ER 8 hour shifts available up to 6 shifts per month

  • Surgical assists (1-2 per month)

  • Anesthesia shifts

  • Endoscopy suite
  • 2 state of the art operating rooms plus procedure room

  • Ambulatory clinics including cancer clinics and hemodialysis

  • Medical and surgical inpatient rooms

 

  • Prenatal Clinic and Birthing Centre

  • Public Health

  • Home care nursing

  • Home support

  • Community rehabilitation

  • Social workers services

  • Environmental Health

 

Dental Health

North Peace Care Clinic, an 87 bed residential complex care facility offering health service, including

  • Adult day program

  • Psychogeriatric services

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture, and the vitality of its residents who are keen to live and work in a community that gives back so much. Fort St. John sits high above the spectacular Peace River Valley, Northwest of Dawson Creek and Southeast of Fort Nelson, where endless patchwork quilts of cropland melt into the horizon. In order to be eligible for British Columbia licensure your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Post graduate training must be obtained from an accredited and approved training program in a jurisdiction sanctioned by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
