In this position you would become our 3rd Gastroenterologist, joining our current group of two vibrant part time gastroenterologists providing Monday to Friday inpatient consult service 1 week in 3, as well as maintain a community based practice, and have an average of 9 hours of endoscopy time per week. As PRH is a regional referral hospital you can enjoy a broad general gastroenterology practice and experience a high degree of varied pathology. Pathology and radiology services are on site. In this position you will also have the opportunity to teach as PRH is a UBC site for medical students and residents. Clinic Details — Penticton Regional Hospital:
The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 134-bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.

PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.

As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining an excellent complement of medical and surgical specialists.  Excellent radiology availability with on site Computed Tomography (CT) and part time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI).  PRH has a seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

PRH is scheduled for expansion with a new Patient Care Tower.  Phase one will include the construction of a new patient care tower with a new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program.  Phase two will involve the renovation in the current hospital to allow the expansion of the emergency department four times its current size.

Qualifications:

  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
