In this General Internal Medicine position you will be part of our talented group of collegial, dedicated and vibrant professionals in the Internal Medicine division providing the most up to date, comprehensive, quality patient centered care. Enjoy a stimulating mix of acute inpatient medicine including ICU care as well as independent outpatient clinics with a variety of options. Working alongside an excellent team of general surgeons and internal medicine subspecialists you will experience how this team truly creates the work environment you have longed for! You will also have the opportunity to be actively involved in collaboration with the University of British Columbia’s Southern Medical Program, teaching and mentoring Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residents.

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 134-bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people. RH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services. s a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining an excellent complement of medical and surgical specialists.  Excellent radiology availability with on site Computed Tomography (CT) and part time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI).  PRH has a seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

Experience growth and excitement and be a part of the legacy as PRH expands with the brand new Patient Care Tower scheduled to open in April 2019. hase one will include the construction of a new patient care tower with a new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program.  Phase two will involve the renovation in the current hospital to allow the expansion of the emergency department four times its current size.

Qualifications:

  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.

Call Schedule:

  • Hours of work: Full time
  • On call requirements: 1:6-7 GIM, including 1:6 weekend coverage

Compensation:

  • Payment Structure: Fee for Service
  • Estimated Gross Income: Competitive
  • Overhead costs associated with private practice only

Additional Incentives:

  • Relocation assistance up to $10,000 maximum or $15,000 maximum if move is over 3,000 kms/international (with eligible receipts)
