<p>Assistant / Associate Professor &ndash; Academic Respirologist, Clinician Investigator</p> <p>Division of Respirology, University Health Network -Department of Medicine, University of Toronto</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto and the University Health Network (UHN) Division of Respirology, in conjunction with the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, is seeking to recruit a full-time academic respirologist. The successful applicant should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Investigator and should have appropriate experience and academic track record such that they will be able to be a successful independent researcher. Effective start date of appointment is October 1, 2018, or as mutually agreed upon.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Candidates must hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Respiratory Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).&nbsp; A graduate degree relevant to quality improvement or equivalent, and a proven record of excellence in clinical research and or program development are strong pre-requisites. The focus should align with the scientific priorities of the Toronto Lung Transplant Program.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The interstitial lung disease program at UHN is an interprofessional program caring for patients with a variety of causes of interstitial lung disease. The ILD program strong linkages with the lung transplant program and serves as a referral program for patients across the province. The position will also have linkages with the cancer program at Princess Margaret Hospital. In particular the position will focus on improving the understanding and treatment of patients with complications of cancer care. The individual will work closely with the allogenic bone marrow transplant program, radiation and medical oncology. Clinical responsibilities include supervising the care of patients in clinics at both UHN, including the ILD clinics and bone marrow transplant / respirology combined clinic. Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level is also expected. Preference will be given to individuals with an interest and demonstrated excellence in clinical research, as demonstrated by success in obtaining peer reviewed funding, publications, presentations at conferences, awards and accolades.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Compensation will also depend upon the amount of clinical work performed but will be in the usual range for an experienced respirologist in the Province of Ontario at approximately $225,000 to $250,000 per year. Over 140 patients are transplanted each year.
