Northern Health is seeking a family practitioner to provide primary care and surgical services in Vanderhoof, BC.

St. John Hospital is a 24 acute care bed and eight bassinet facility with a staff base of 180. The St. John’s Hospital services include:
• Operating room 5 days/week, with GP-Surgery and GP-Anesthesia Support
• Obstetric Services
• Emergency Services
• 24/7 Lab, X-ray and ultrasound
• GP run community oncology program

St. John Hospital is a teaching facility for the University of Northern British Columbia and UBC, with a regular rotation of students and residents. Services that are operated on an outpatient basis from the St. John Hospital include:
• Public Health
• Mental Health
• Occupational therapy
• Home Care
• Dietician Services

Visiting specialists include: orthopaedics, ENT, plastics, geriatrics, psychiatry, pediatrics, physiatry, dermatology, and rheumatology.


Vanderhoof is a tight-knit caring community located on the banks of the Nechako River. The population is 4,500 with a service area of approx 10,000. There are 10 schools, including private and post-secondary. Residents enjoy a range of activities including Nordic skiing, Golf, trail networks, and a bike park. A brand new community pool is opening in 2017.

In order to be eligible for British Columbia licensure your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
