The Division of Infectious Diseases at University Health Network and Sinai Health Systems and the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto are seeking an Infectious Diseases physician who will provide leadership and foster excellence in the academic field and clinical practice of Oncology-related Infectious Diseases (Oncology ID). The successful applicant must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and will be expected to work in the academic position description of Clinician Teacher. The effective start date is February 1, 2019 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
The major clinical responsibilities for this position will include participation as a consultant in a busy outpatient clinic (twice/week) and inpatient Oncology ID consultation service for 26-36 weeks at both the University Health Network and Sinai Health Systems. The successful candidate will hold a Department of Medicine academic appointment and will be expected to contribute substantially to postgraduate training programs in Transplant/Oncology Infectious Disease, and graduate training to an MSc level or equivalent is preferable. The Oncology ID Physician will work collaboratively with other physicians in the Transplant and Oncology Infectious Diseases Program and report to the Division Director of Infectious Diseases.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Infectious Diseases and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates with specialized training in oncology and/or transplant infectious disease will be preferred. The ideal candidate will have interest and expertise in the management of infections in immunocompromised patients, and oncology patients in particular. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated teaching experience and interest. Teaching excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and teaching awards.
For the successful candidate, estimated remuneration will be between the range of $225,000 - 300,000 per year (fee for-service), commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
