Assistant / Associate Professor - Academic Medical Oncologists

The Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) in conjunction with the Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto are seeking two full-time Academic Medical Oncologists. Successful candidates must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment with an academic position description of Clinician Investigator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. It is expected that the positions will be approximately 40% clinical, 40% research, 10% teaching and 10% administration. Expected start date is July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

We are seeking physicians who will foster excellence in research. Successful candidates will participate in the clinical and academic activities of the Odette Cancer Centre (OCC). Clinical activities include inpatient and outpatient care at the OCC and SHSC. Previous experience and expertise in genitourinary or gastrointestinal cancer patient management is desirable, although applicants with other interests will be considered. Within the allocated clinical time candidates will also participate on the medical oncology call roster. Preference will be given to individuals with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out research, as demonstrated by publications in leading journals, research grants, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades.

Successful candidates must hold a MD degree, have or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario as well as Fellowship certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Based at the Sunnybrook campus, this position is funded under an Alternative Payment Plan (APP) through the Ontario Oncology Association (Provincial Oncology AFP) agreement with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $350,000-$400,000 annually and commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in the Ontario Oncology Association’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
