The Moncton Hospital, a facility within Horizon Health Network, is recruiting a fifth Gastroenterologist.  The expected start date is August 1, 2018.  Services include inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology.  The physician will participate in the provision of gastroenterology services.  Gastroenterology call will be shared with five specialists in the Division of Gastroenterology and there is no requirement for general internal medicine call.  The successful candidate will preferably have some experience in ERCP and therapeutics although this is not essential.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting are essential. 

The Moncton Hospital is a 386-bed tertiary and critical care facility within Horizon Health Network.  It is a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia.  It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties. 

The division of gastroenterology functions as a tertiary-level centre for most aspects of gastroenterology.  This includes on-site access to ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy and radiofrequency ablation.  The Moncton Hospital also has active departments of interventional radiology and hepatobiliary surgery.

Requirements:

The Department of Internal Medicine requires that its active and courtesy members have passed the examinations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the examination of  la Corporation professionnelle des médecins du Québec.  In circumstances where no Canadian trained applicants are available, the Department will consider physicians with American Boards who are able to obtain licensure in the State of Maine.  In special circumstances, foreign graduates who qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick will be considered. 

Members of the department performing gastrointestinal endoscopy shall meet the practice guidelines established by the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology.

Remuneration:

Standard remuneration is fee-for-service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick.  No source deductions can be provided.  On call and out-of province remuneration is fee-for-service.  Specifics regarding expected remuneration can be provided at the applicants request.
