Applications and nominations are invited for the joint position of Vice-Dean, Research, Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at Queen’s University and Vice President, Health Sciences Research at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC). We are searching for an individual that will embody the FHS and KHSC research missions of enhancing the health and well-being of the people of Canada and the world through research, education and the translation of new knowledge into practice. This advancement of knowledge brings evidence into practice for the benefit and empowerment of our patients, their families and our medical community. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding academic having an established record as a research scientist and proven administrative experience. This individual will be an innovative leader who will draw on strong interpersonal and organizational skills to direct the development and implementation of strategic plans required to attain the goals of the integrated research vision of the Faculty and the Hospital.

 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership for the research portfolio of FHS and KHSC. The incumbent acts as President and CEO of both the Kingston General Hospital Research Institute (KGHRI) and the Hotel Dieu Hospital Research Institute (HDHRI) and as such, reports to the Institute Boards. As President and CEO, the incumbent has corporate responsibility for all activities of the Institutes, including financial management. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of Faculty and Hospital research related resources, including space allocation. The incumbent will also be expected to build and maintain a culture of research and enquiry in the Faculty and Hospital.
