Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are jointly recruiting for one full time Ophthalmologist to fill an upcoming vacancy in the spring 2019 in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. As the largest central community in one of Canada’s fastest growing regions, Kitchener-Waterloo offers the very best of multicultural, large urban centre living and vibrant city life with the warmth and tight-knit community associated with smaller towns.
Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are two separately governed hospitals that function as an integrated system with well-defined and complementary clinical programs to serve both the local community and the region. Each hospital has acute care ER with patient volumes reaching approximately 55,000 visits/annum. St. Mary’s General Hospital is a Regional Cardiac Care Centre and a Centre of Excellence for Respiratory and Thoracic Care. St. Mary’s has a busy eye surgery program, specializing in cataract surgery (4500 cataract procedures annually). Grand River Hospital hosts several regional programs including the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, Hepatobiliary Surgical Programme, and stroke, renal and mental health programmes. We offer round-the-clock services in orthopedics, urology, gynecology, cancer, plastic, and reconstructive and emergency surgery as well as a wide variety of general surgeries. Our surgeons perform approximately 10,000 procedures each year.
The hospitals are seeking an Ophthalmologist who will work with the other eight local ophthalmologists, to provide specialized medical and surgical care for patients presenting with a wide range of ocular and visual disorders. In addition, the Ophthalmology Program provides regional on-call coverage, which includes Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph.
The candidate must be eligible for independent practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and hold certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology.
Interested candidates are invited to inquire about this opportunity by sending their curriculum vitae by email to the attention of Tanja Cvijetic, Medical Affairs Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org.
