Coast Tsimshian Physician

Do you want to be part of an extraordinary opportunity to help lead a unique service delivery model in a rich First Nations culture in one of the most beautiful geographical areas in Canada?

We are recruiting for a full time primary care physician for the Coast Tsimshian Primary Care Team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative partnership between four Coastal First Nation communities, First Nations Health Authority and Northern Health.

Join a highly motivated community facing inter-professional Mobile Primary Care Team consisting of two Nurse Practitioners, a Mental Wellness Worker, Occupational Therapist and Primary Care Assistant that will embed primary care services in the communities to address Indigenous health. The team will be expected to be responsive for in-community emergencies when on-site.

You will be based in Prince Rupert with the rest of the Primary Care Team with scheduled visits of 8 days each month for in-community service delivery to the four Northwest First Nations communities of: Gitga’at (Hartley Bay), Lax Kw’alaams (Port Simpson), Maxtakxaata (Metlakatla) and Gitkxaahla (Kitkatla). The rest of your time will be spent travelling to and from communities collaborating on team based care intervention, delivery and to support the communities remotely with service delivery from Prince Rupert

Travel is by boat or floatplane and dedicated accommodation and logistical support will be provided and food and incidentals will be planned prior to visit.

The Coast Tsimshian Primary Care Team will be connected to and supported by the Prince Rupert Primary Care Network to deliver care that is comprehensive, responsive and as close to home as possible.

Video link/telehealth technology is enabled with access to consultation specialty services and linkage to other health professionals.

The EMR platform and NH Cerner OS are used to strengthen care and connectivity to and from the communities and primary care and specialist support will be planned and coordinated to ensure you’re supported in your care delivery in remote communities.

Not only will you be able to deliver well-funded, well-supported holistic care in a multidisciplinary team context to a unique geographical area but also be a part of a unique opportunity for innovation, creativity and transformation rectifying inequities in health service delivery.
