Director, Hamilton Center for Cardiovascular Health

Our client, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS), is redefining the delivery of cardiovascular healthcare through the development of the “Hamilton Center for Cardiovascular Health” (HCCVH).  To lead the development of this innovative center of excellence, HHS is seeking an accomplished, dynamic, innovative individual to assume the position of inaugural Director of the newly created HCCVH.  With the support of the hospital administration, five successful independent physician/surgeon groups (Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Stroke and Thrombosis) have decided to merge under a common structure and vision.  The HCCVH will allow HHS to transform cardiovascular care, training, and research and expand its impact as a world leader in cardiovascular health.  This exciting opportunity requires a visionary leader with an established track record as a transformative healthcare leader.

With a foundational blue print developed, the Director of the HCCVH will lead the establishment of the administrative structure, set priorities and strategic directions, guide strategic fund raising, and act as the ambassador for the HCCVH.  The Director will champion innovative integrated care models across the 5 physician/surgeon groups, promote and support research, and, in collaboration with McMaster University, develop and implement novel integrated training opportunities for physicians.

The HCCVH Director will report to the VP Adult Regional Care.  The Hamilton General Hospital based Physician/Surgeon service leads will report to the HCCVH Director. The HCCVH Director will work in partnership with these Physician/Surgeon leads and the Administrative Directors of the Cardiac and Vascular Program and the Neurosciences Program to develop and lead the HCCVH.

Possessing a stellar clinical reputation, the ideal candidate will be an established cardiologist, cardiac surgeon, stroke specialist, thrombosis specialist, vascular surgeon, or other related specialist.  Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the province of Ontario through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Individuals with a strong track record in establishing successful interdisciplinary programs or integration of physician/surgeon groups are encouraged to explore this exciting career defining opportunity.

This position will require the equivalence of approximately 20 hours per week, however, the activity will vary depending on work priorities.  The Director of the HCCVH would also be expected to spend a portion of their time working in clinical care at Hamilton Health Sciences.  The successful applicant will receive a competitive compensation package.
