CLINICAL ACADEMIC POSITION - DEVELOPMENTAL PAEDIATRICS

Department of Paediatrics, Western University, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry

 

The Department of Paediatrics, Children’s Hospital, London Health Science Centre, and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, is seeking a fully certified Developmental Paediatrician to join the Division of Developmental Paediatrics.  We are seeking an individual to practice general developmental pediatrics with a focus on neuromotor disorders, including support to our multidisciplinary Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and Neuromuscular clinics.

 

The Division of Developmental Paediatrics provides a comprehensive array of clinical services across the spectrum of Developmental Paediatrics and has a growing clinical research program.  Children with emerging and diagnosed developmental disorders are managed in collaboration with the Thames Valley Children’s Centre, the Child and Parent Resource Institute and Community based mental health agencies.  Collaboration occurs with colleagues in Neurology, Genetics, Psychiatry, Physiatry, Complex Care, Community Paediatrics, Psychology and Social Work.

 

The Department of Paediatrics provides comprehensive acute care, ambulatory and in-patient services for children to a population of 2 million in Southwestern Ontario and has a number of research initiatives for children ranging in age from premature neonates to adolescents.  The Department is very active in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education, with a Royal College accredited program in Paediatrics and several fellowship programs.

Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario, and an FRCPC in Paediatrics or equivalent.  Subspecialty certification in Developmental Paediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required.  The successful candidate will be a Clinician Teacher or Clincian Researcher, and hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated a strong interest in neuromotor disorders and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of members of the research and health care team and will have demonstrated strong communication and management skills. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. 

 

Compensation for this position will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2020, although an alternate start date may be negotiated.
