General/Family Practitioner

Northern Health is seeking family/general practitioners to provide short or long term locum coverage in Dawson Creek, BC. The locum physician will be working in a family practice/walk in clinic providing a full scope of primary care services. Dawson Creek has several clinics that work cooperatively. The locum physician may choose to provide emergency room coverage as well.  

Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 acute care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Services include:

•             24/7 emergency

•             ICU

•             Medical and surgical in-patient care

•             Day surgery

•             Respiratory therapy

•             Diabetic education

•             Primary care

•             General surgery

•             Lab

•             Medical imaging with CT

•             Cancer care

•             Orthopedic Trauma and Surgical Centre for the North East region of BC 

Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. 

Dawson Creek offers shopping, services and indoor and outdoor recreation to meet the needs of residents and tourists. The town has more park land per capita than most communities of comparable size.

In order to be eligible for British Columbia licensure your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Post graduate training must be obtained from an accredited and approved training program in a jurisdiction sanctioned by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
