The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is seeking an Anesthesiologist with a fellowship in chronic pain to fill a vacancy within the department. The successful candidate must be willing to have training in spinal pump insertion and management of the same. The hospital has an accredited level 3 trauma unit and the Intensive Care Unit is an integral part of this. The Northern Simulation Centre is housed within the Hospital and is an opportunity for those wishing to get involved in Sim-Lab.  The Department of Anesthesia at UHNBC provides anesthetic services to a wide range of surgical specialties like general surgery including Whipple`s procedure and Esophagectomy, Urology, Orthopaedic, Plastic, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, 24 hours Epidural Service and Vascular surgery. 

UHNBC is the Regional Hospital for Northern BC serving both the immediate population of Prince George (approximately 80,000) and is a referral center for outlying communities (total population approximately 300,000). It is the main teaching center for Medical Students in the Northern Medical Program of UBC and provides teaching for UBC Residents in several specialties. The BC Cancer Centre for the North is located on the hospital site and includes radiation and medical oncology.  The ongoing development of UHNBC as a regional center and teaching center makes this an exciting time to join the medical community in Prince George. 

Compensation: $350,000 - $450,000 Annually  

Retention Premium:  12.6%

Retention Flat Fee: $11,016

Relocation Assistance: $15,000

Recruitment Incentive: $20,000

Experience:  Mandatory Current College of Physicians of BC License:  Provisional Canadian Medical Protective Assoc.:  Mandatory Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada:  Eligible 

The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia is located at 1475 Edmonton Street, Prince George, BC.  In order to be eligible for licensure in BC, your postgraduate training must meet the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Post graduate training must be obtained from an accredited and approved training program in a jurisdiction sanctioned by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
