Cardiac Anesthesiologist

Providence Health Care invites applications for a Cardiac Anesthesiologist to work at St. Paul's and Mount Saint Joseph Hospitals, University of British Columbia Affiliated teaching hospitals. PHC is a leading teaching and research organization. We are known for our centres for excellence and are recognized for a number of specialty programs and services across the continuum of care. The Department of Anesthesia has sub-specialty areas of Cardiac Anesthesia, Regional Anesthesia, Peri-operative Medicine and Acute/Chronic Pain. The Department is actively involved in clinical teaching of medical students, residents and sub-specialty fellows. There are over 14,000 cases at the two hospitals each year of which over 1,000 are cardiac cases performed at St. Paul's Hospital. These include cardiac transplants, LVADs, ECMO and laser lead extractions. As well, the applicant must be proficient in intra-operative TEE and Cardiac Surgical ICU.
Candidates should have completed an MD degree and training in Anesthesiology, and a Sub-specialty in Cardiac Anesthesia with emphasis in the above areas. You must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. The ideal candidate will bring additional academic qualifications and a passion for research, quality improvement or education. It is anticipated that 50% of the work will be Cardiac Anesthesia-related.
