Pediatric Anesthesiologist – Specialization in Chronic Pain Management

The Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children is inviting applications for the position of Pediatric Anesthesiologist, with specialization in chronic pain management. This will be a full-time permanent role. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant/Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date will be October, 1, 2019, or one which is mutually agreed upon.

The hospital is committed to ongoing clinical care, research, learning and development, and features a caring and supportive work environment. SickKids is a paediatric academic health science centre, affiliated with the University of Toronto, dedicated to the care of children. The Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine is comprised of 41 anesthesiologists, and provides perioperative care for neonates and children.

The candidate must have a strong clinical/educational background, with advanced Fellowship training in pediatric anesthesia as well as specialization in paediatric chronic pain management. The successful candidate is expected to complement the Department’s academic, educational and research productivity, with a focus on chronic pain management. Additional responsibilities include clinical pediatric anesthesia practice, research, education, and administrative responsibilities as required by a staff anesthesiologist.

The candidate must be proficient in English. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. The candidate must have a strong academic/research background, hold an MD with Masters or PhD. The candidate will be expected to develop an academic plan with clear deliverables at the 1, 2 and 3 year mark. In addition, he/she will be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Salary range will be between $400,000 to 420,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
