Our client, the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA), provides a wide range of high quality healthcare to Nova Scotians through inpatient and outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services in addition to the provision of continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.  Healthcare services are delivered through 1 Specialty and 9 Regional Hospitals, 135 Community Centres, and 8 Collaborative Emergency Centres.  NSHA operates approximately 3,500 hospital beds and care is provided across four geographic management zones: Western Zone; Central Zone; Northern Zone; and Eastern Zone.

Reporting to the Vice President Medicine, the Zone Medical Executive Director will lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of provincially integrated medical service plans which allow the management zone to deliver safe and high quality care.

Western Zone:

The NSHA is seeking a Medical Executive Director for the Western Zone.  The position is based in Kentville, Nova Scotia.  The Western Zone is home to three regional hospitals, located in Bridgewater, Yarmouth and Kentville, five community hospitals, two community health centres and one Collaborative Emergency Centre.  Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville is the regional referral centre for Annapolis Valley and beyond, offering a wide range of health care services, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, intensive care, emergency, psychiatry, and addictions.

Eastern Zone:

The NSHA is seeking a Medical Executive Director for the Eastern Zone.  The position is based in Sydney, Nova Scotia.  The Eastern Zone is home to two regional hospitals, located in Antigonish and Sydney, 11 community hospitals, and one Collaborative Emergency Centre serving towns nestled between the mountains and the sea.  Sydney’s Cape Breton Regional Hospital is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia, and St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, in Antigonish, was founded in 1906 by the Sisters of St. Martha’s congregation, and provides a wide range of health care services.
