Psychiatry Position – Mood Disorders Program

The Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University and the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) Central Zone are seeking a psychiatrist for a full-time clinical and academic staff position in the Mood Disorders Program in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

We are seeking a psychiatrist interested in working collaboratively within a dynamic interdisciplinary team. The Mood Disorders Program is a tertiary level specialty program that provides consultations, acute care and long term follow up to patients with bipolar disorder and major depression. The program supervises medical students, residents, graduate students and trainees in various clinical disciplines. There is an active research program with clinical, family-genetic, pharmacological and brain imaging components.

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for specialist licensure in Psychiatry with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and must be eligible for medical staff privileges with the NSHA. Additionally, we require additional training (fellowship) in mood disorders and research experience with evidence of publication activity. Graduate degree (MSc or PhD) will be an asset.

Remuneration is based upon a highly competitive Alternative Funding Plan, which pays for time spent in clinical service, teaching and research. Successful candidates will receive academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience as per University protocols.
