Head, Division of Urology, Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is inviting applications for a full time Head, Division of Urology. The Division of Urology surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children is comprised of five academic Urology Surgeons and Specialist Physicians. Clinical activity is supported by its renowned Paediatric Urology Fellowship program, and University of Toronto Urology and Paediatric Residents on rotation.

The candidate should have a strong clinical and academic background and is expected to complement and lead the Division’s clinical, educational and research productivity. The candidate should have expertise in pediatric urology, ideally with a specific area of recognized excellence which has promoted a strong international reputation.

The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English and hold an M.D., MBBS or equivalent as well as appropriate certification in Urology and Paediatric Urology. Evidence of excellence in research and an advanced University degree such as Master’s or PhD are strongly recommended. He/she must also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and be eligible for licensure with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

The Division Head reports to the Surgeon-in-Chief at SickKids on professional matters including service, teaching and research as they pertain to patient care. The Division Head similarly reports through the University Division Chair and the Surgeon-in-Chief to the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto on all aspects of their position as it relates to the University of Toronto, Department of Surgery.

Dedicated exclusively to children and their families, The Hospital for Sick Children is among the largest children’s hospitals in North America and has a long history of excellence in clinical care, research and education. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is located adjacent to the University campus and to numerous specialty hospitals and biomedical research institutes.

Base salary will be between the range of $400,000 - $600,000 for 35 hours work per week, commensurate with qualifications and experience and the Alternate Funding Plan (AFP) system that is employed by all surgical divisions at SickKids. May be eligible for benefits, relocation and/or signing bonuses.
