The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, exceptional leader to be the Chair/Chief – Division of Forensic Psychiatry for the Department of Psychiatry.  Together, the hospitals provide comprehensive care to a large and geographically extended population of approximately 1.6 million people across Southwestern Ontario.

The mandate of this exciting role is to provide visionary leadership and passion about high quality patient care with an appreciation of the interdisciplinary process to the management of patient care. The successful candidate will have the ability to translate a strategic direction through planning, communication and organizational skills, while working collaboratively with hospital and academic partners.

The successful applicant will have an established career in Forensic Psychiatry and a proven academic and clinical track record as an educator and clinical researcher.  Potential candidates would have responsibility over all the academic activities of the division including education, research, and clinical leadership.  Administrative leadership skills are required to assist in strategic and human resource planning within the department and strengthen and cultivate cross and trans-disciplinary relationships with other university departments and faculties. The candidate will foster an environment that supports a strong divisional education program in all levels of education and research. Other primary responsibilities include development and maintenance of a division human resource plan, including recruitment, fostering the development of Forensic sub-specialty residency training and supporting clinical activities and program development. The desired candidate will embrace evidence-based practice, thrive in an environment of continuous learning and education, and consider staff wellness a core value. 

The successful candidate will hold a initial limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate or a Continuing Appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, commensurate with experience and track record and will have the capacity to mentor and inspire junior faculty.

The successful candidate will hold an MD, or equivalent, be certified or eligible to be certified as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources:, fee for service, alternate funding plan, and academic support.
