Academic Gastroenterologist – Clinician Scholar

Queen’s Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, is seeking a qualified Gastroenterologist to fulfill a Clinician-Scholar role.  The Queen’s University Division of Gastroenterology is a collegial and supportive group of 10 academic gastroenterologists who provide specialist clinical care to a large catchment area. The Gastrointestinal Diseases Research Unit conducts externally funded research in population databases, investigator driven clinical trials, and basic and translation science, with extensive state of the art physical facilities and infrastructure.  Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefit plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

In addition to a major focus of providing exemplary clinical service, the successful incumbent will be expected to provide teaching to learners, contribute to the administrative functions of the University and hospitals, and to engage in research activity across the Department of Medicine. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants are also expected to provide evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment, possess excellent communication skills and a strong academic portfolio. Significant protected research time will be considered for an appropriate candidate. Preference will be given to applicants with advanced clinical and research training. Alternatively, or in addition, training in clinical trials and translational research would also be an asset. Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Gastroenterology.
