Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community-based academic health network in Ontario, serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), Mississauga Hospital (MH), and Queensway Health Centre (QHC) – offering a full range of acute care hospital services, as well as a variety of community-based specialized programs. THP is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the University of Toronto.

The Critical Care Team at THP includes a dedicated group of 10 Intensivists working at two sites (Credit Valley Hospital and Mississauga Hospital).  The Critical Care platform at THP offers a full spectrum of critical care and related services, with care for critically ill medical and surgical patients making up the largest component.  We are committed to a multi-disciplinary, patient centered approach in a respectful work environment.

We currently have a number of full-time Intensivist positions available to join our team within the Medicine Program at the Mississauga Hospital site, starting in the fall 2019. The position includes participation in shared call, dedicated MRP coverage and inpatient consultation in our closed ICU at Mississauga Hospital site and Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) coverage on an equitable basis. We are looking for candidates who are able to provide a wide range of services including:

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Serve as most responsible physicians (MRP) for critical care patients on the closed ICU unit;
• Provide critical care consultations for adult patients referred from other services;
• Participation in equitable on-call ICU coverage on a rotational basis;
• Serve as most responsible physicians (MRP) for critical care patients on the closed ICU unit;
• Provide critical care consultations for adult patients referred from other services;
• Provide consultations and follow up for Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) patients; and
• Participation in unplanned care within the Medicine Program, which may include additional Internal Medicine coverage in the Emergency Department, overnight coverage for Medicine inpatients and Internal Medicine consultations, or providing additional  most responsible physician (MRP) coverage for Medicine inpatients on weekends and holidays.

Educational Responsibilities

Members of the Critical Care Service at the MH site play a central role in:

• Providing clinical supervision and teaching for medical students / residents and allied health care professionals completing mandatory or elective rotations at THP

Administrative/Other Academic Activities

Participation is encouraged in academic and/or administrative activities as part of their position description including:

• Patient Safety/Quality Assurance projects;
• Various THP committees
• Research opportunities

Requirements:

• Successful candidates will be expected to serve as role models, promoting the highest standards of clinical practice and professional conduct;
• Successful candidates will hold RCPSC certification in internal medicine and adult critical care medicine and licensed to practice in Ontario;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team-based and inter-professional care are essential;
• Dedication to patient-centred care and promoting best practice for critical care patients; and
• Adaptable and flexible with an interest in advancing and optimizing our critical care platform
• Demonstrated academic interest, including experience in teaching, research, policy and facilitation, is preferred.
