Facility Details — Penticton Regional Hospital:

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 155-bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.

PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.

As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining an excellent complement of medical and surgical specialists. Excellent radiology availability with on site Computed Tomography (CT) and part time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.

In April 2019 PRH opened phase one of its new, state of the art Patient Care Tower. The Patient Care Tower includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two is now underway and will involve the renovation in the current hospital to allow the expansion of the emergency department four times its current size.

You will be part of our dedicated team of 6 psychiatrists providing the most up to date, comprehensive, quality client centred care to individuals and their families. The 16 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU) offers Acute Mental Health and Substance Use services in a safe, secure and accessible facility for the South Okanagan region. In addition to Inpatient services, our well established integrated Mental Health programs include Short Term Counseling, Community Case Management, Vocational Rehabilitation, Physical Activation, Anxiety and Depression, DBT groups, as well as Seniors Mental Health and Rural Outreach. Enjoy a diverse practice supported by a collaborative and experienced group of caring inter-disciplinary professionals; this team truly creates the work environment you have longed for! In addition, in this position you have the opportunity to teach medical students and participate in quality improvement and program development activities. In addition to general psychiatry, applicants with interest in child and youth psychiatry would be welcomed.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC; Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory

Call Schedule:

  • Hours of work: Full time
  • On call requirements: 1:5-6 and rotating weekends

Compensation:

  • Payment Structure
    • Combined Fee for Service plus Sessions
  • Estimated Gross Income
    • $300,000-$450,000, plus MOCAP level 2

    • No overhead cost
  • Additional Incentives
    • Relocation incentive of up to $10,000 maximum or up to $15,000 for relocation over 3000kms/international with eligible receipts
