Director of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance - The Labatt Family Heart Centre

Effective immediately we are recruiting for a full-time permanent Director of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance in the Labatt Family Heart Centre - Cardiology Division, The Department of Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Ave. Toronto, ON Canada M5G 1X8. SickKids is an academic health sciences centre dedicated exclusively to health outcomes in paediatric children provincially, internationally and is affiliated with the University of Toronto.

The Labatt Family Heart Centre brings together significant interdisciplinary and inter-professional activities within Paediatric Cardiology, Cardiovascular (CV) Surgery, Cardiac Critical Care, Cardiovascular Research and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Programs, thus allowing the Heart Centre to address the needs of patients and families from fetal life through to adulthood.  The Heart Centre at The Hospital for Sick Children promotes these activities through seamless integration of research activities, academic performance and exemplary clinical care.

The primary role of the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) cardiologist will be to lead our CMR Section by striving to achieve excellence in clinical care, education and research. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct and interpret clinical paediatric CMR examinations, teach our fellows and undertake innovative and impactful research. We anticipate some requirement for additional service provision in general in-patient and out-patient cardiology. For candidates trained in other imaging modalities such as echocardiography, we would be interested to explore the potential for including some activity in those areas in the job plan.

Applicants must be certified in a subspecialty training in Electrophysiology, recognized at the national/international level for his/her expertise in the field of Cardiology and brings extensive experience in clinical and research related activities. Reporting to the Division Head, Labatt Family Heart Centre, this position is a full-time staff physician appointment. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be eligible for a leadership role.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($265,000--$350,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package and may be eligible for mortgage assistance. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English.

All candidates must hold an MD, MBBS, or the equivalent thereto and must be certified or eligible for certification in Paediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
