Campus Health Centre Physician Opportunity Brockville and/or Cornwall

St. Lawrence College is proud to be able to provide healthcare services to support the wellbeing of our students. As we look to expand our services across three campuses, we are seeking a Physician to bridge the primary care gap for students while away from home within our Brockville and Cornwall Campus Health Centres. The incumbent has a lead role in health promotion and supporting the daily activities of the Health Centres (i.e. episodic injuries and illness {flu, cold, rashes}, immunizations, birth control, health counselling), emergencies that arise (i.e. first aid, injuries, CPR, crisis support).

This position offers Physicians a rare opportunity to work with our diverse student population, while offering the flexibility, if desired, to integrate a community family practice within a modern, well-equipped clinic.

Our Physicians function as an essential member of the health care team in the provision of comprehensive, interprofessional, health care services to our students. These services include: ambulatory health care, health promotion, prevention of diseases and injuries, mental health support, immunization and support services.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Providing clinical assessment, administration and dispensation of medication, diagnostic procedures, client education, treatment/care planning, and referral for further medical attention;
• Initiating and managing the care of patients with a disease or disorder within his/her scope of practice and/or monitoring the ongoing therapy of patients;
• In collaboration with our Counselling team, providing effective pharmacological and other interventions supporting mental health needs, and counselling of students in crisis, referring and following up to ensure effectiveness of the intervention;
• Implementing strategies to promote health and prevent illness with individuals;
• Offering confidential counselling for prevention of illness, contraception, nutrition, mental health issues, exercise programs, hypertension, communicable diseases, and other health needs as required;
• Providing, interpreting and planning for immunization and screening requirements, health and wellness issues, and laboratory results in relation to symptoms present or immunization requirements;
• Practicing as a member of an interprofessional team and providing consultation to support the overall health care needs of our students.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
• Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification

Salary and Terms of Conditions: Contracted/fee for service billing
