Chief, Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI)

Applications are invited for the position of Radiologist-in-Chief, for the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at the University Health Network, Sinai Health System, and Women’s College Hospital.  The institutions seek an experienced, contemporary leader, able to develop and implement a strategic vision, build teams, and establish productive partnerships.

Based in downtown Toronto, the three hospitals are fully-affiliated academic hospitals of the University of Toronto, one of the world’s top ranked research universities.  Considered one of the most livable, safest and competitive cities in the world in recent rankings, Toronto attracts international talent to its leading knowledge sectors, foremost of which is health care.

JDMI is the largest academic radiology department in Canada, with over 80 full time medical staff members, and provides a complete range of high quality innovative radiology services.  The Chief has multi-hospital operational responsibility for the medical Department, and clinical and academic oversight of full time MD staff members.  The pursuit of the academic mission, with interdisciplinary teams focused on advancing research and education, is a key strategic priority.  Strong partnerships with internal departments (i.e. Surgery, Medicine, Oncology, etc) are well established; as are external partnerships with industry to continuously innovate technology and improve patient care.  External institutional, government and regional system partnerships are successful and have led to new programs and investments.

Applicants must hold an MD and must be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario, and are expected to participate in radiological clinical practice.  They must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto.  The successful candidate must be an outstanding academic leader, with proven excellence in prior complex hospital administrative positions, as demonstrated by evidence of prior management success in operational, quality and/or clinical programs.  Candidates should have a deep commitment to scholarly enterprise, with experience in advancing peer reviewed research and education.

Academic rank will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  Compensation is in the range of $350,000 - $500,000 per annum.  The position is for a 5-year term, renewable once based upon a successful review.
