The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto are seeking to recruit a qualified academic non-invasive cardiologist with Level 3 training in Echocardiography. This successful candidate would fulfil the academic position description of a Clinician Teacher, Clinician Investigator, or Clinician in Quality and Innovation, and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The position is expected to involve 25% research/teaching and 75% clinical. The expected start date is July 1, 2020, or a mutually agreed upon date.

For applicants being considered for appointment as a Clinician Teacher, excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and teaching awards. For Clinician Investigators, scholarly excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at significant conferences, awards, accolades, and other related accomplishments. For Clinician in Quality and Innovation, excellence will be assessed by advanced training in quality improvement or equivalent, successful quality improvement initiatives, evidence of practice and/or equipment innovations, and invitations to significant conferences, and accolades.

The successful candidate will participate in the clinical and research activities of the Schulich Heart Program at Sunnybrook. Clinical activities will primarily focus on echocardiography, including Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), 3D echo, strain imaging, and structural heart disease (MitraClip and TAVI).  The candidate will also participate in general cardiology care, including the general cardiology call roster.

Successful candidates must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in Cardiology/Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. 

Salary will be between the range of $300,000- $400,000 as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience.
