Facility Details — Penticton Regional Hospital:
The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 155-bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.
PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.
As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining an excellent complement of medical and surgical specialists. Excellent radiology availability with on site Computed Tomography (CT) and part time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.
In April 2019 PRH opened phase one of its new, state of the art Patient Care Tower. The Patient Care Tower includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, 84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two is now underway and will involve the renovation in the current hospital to allow the expansion of the emergency department four times its current size.

Come and join our existing team of 4 pediatricians at Penticton Regional Hospital! This position offers a wide spectrum of practice with a friendly, easy-going and supportive team environment. We have a well-equipped paediatric ward with 8 inpatient beds that is shared with adult services and a level 1 capacity nursery for infants 36 weeks and over. The maternity care is shared between 4 Consulting Obstetricians, a Family practice based Maternity Clinic and 4 Midwives. Candidates are required to maintain NRP and PALs certification.
This position is fully EMR based and integrated between the collaborating paediatricians. Duties include consultation to the emergency department, LDR, and covering the paediatric ward and nursery. Teaching to 1st year family practice residents and 3rd and 4th year medical students will be expected periodically. We participate in the regional assessment team for Complex developmental disability and FASD and autism programs. There is a Child Development Centre in Penticton where we do some sessional work. For those interested, there is an opportunity to provide service periodically in the PRH Diabetes clinic, the Child Development Centre, the Child and Youth Mental team, as well as the outreach clinic in Princeton.
