Facility Details — Royal Inland Hospital:

The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 254-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people, and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 70,000 visits per year.

Kamloops offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services. Specialty services include Acute Inpatient Psychiatry, Tertiary Inpatient and Community Psychiatric Services, non-interventional Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Gastroenterology and others. Support services include: a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, and CT scan, and Echocardiography. RIH also features TPA Stroke, Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage.

Royal Inland Hospital is seeking a full time Emergency Physicians to join our dynamic team. RIH is the third busiest trauma hospital in BC, providing a great opportunity for a diverse and professionally rewarding career. RIH is also affiliated with the Southern Medical Program of UBC and we are actively involved in teaching of both medical students and residents.

For those interested, there may be opportunities to do outreach, locums or other short-term work within other Interior Health Communities.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Certificant of College of Family Physicians of Canada-Emerg Med (CCFP-EM)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification (ATLS)
  • Emergency experience
  • Canadian Medical CCFP-EM or FRCPC both welcome to apply;
  • Protective Association (CMPA)mandatory
  • Full License with CPSBC

Call Schedule:

  • Hours of work: Approx 12 shifts/month of up to 9 hours/ month
  • On call requirements: 2 days/ month

Compensation:

    • $332,000 + MOCAP level 1 + Fee For Service billings for Trauma

    • Relocation assistance for full time positions is up to $10,000 maximum or $15,000 maximum if move is over 3,000 kms/international (with eligible receipts)
