The Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the London Health Sciences Centre is seeking a full-time clinical academic appointment as the Chair/Chief for the Division of Neurology. Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. This appointment will be at the rank of Associate, or Full Professor.

The Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences is comprised of 36 Neurologists and 12 Neurosurgeons and is the single tertiary referral centre for Southwestern Ontario. The Department provides provide secondary, tertiary and quaternary services to a patient population of 1.8 million, but its referral base extends beyond the region to include areas in northern Ontario and a significant portion from the Niagara region – increasing this referral base to 3.5 million. The Division of Neurology has a very successfully Royal College Subspecialty Training Program and active research programs in the areas of Cerebrovascular Disease, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurodegeneration and Cognitive Neurology.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of academic and clinical excellence. It is anticipated that the candidate will have demonstrated academic excellence based on productivity and impact in research or education combined with a strong track record of leadership resulting in effective transformative change. He/she will commit to the primary goal of harnessing the considerable energy, passion, expertise and potential present to elevate the Department’s collective academic and clinical performance. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, qualifications and experience. Applicants will be evaluated on their approach to successfully achieving impactful change. In particular, they will need to exhibit core qualities including integrity and effectiveness as a mentor, communicator, advocate and negotiator for health and clinical services.
Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternate funding plan, clinical and academic support.
