Facility Details — East Kootenay Regional Hospital:

East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook is a 77 bed regional referral centre, serving a catchment area of approximately 80,000 people in the East Kootenays. The 4 floor facility offers 24/7 emergency services with 16 beds, a brand new state of the art 6 bed ICU, a full range of medical and surgical services including Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Pathology, Psychiatry and Radiology and Urology.

Fantastic opportunity for a General Internal Medicine specialist to join the team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook. In this General Internal Medicine position you will be part of our dedicated and talented group of 4 general internists and 1 respirologist in the Internal Medicine division providing the most up to date, comprehensive, quality patient centered care. Enjoy a stimulating mix of acute inpatient medicine as well as outpatient consultations services, including a rapid access TIA clinic, a chronic pulmonary disease clinic and a CHF clinic with home monitoring. In this position you will also do regular cardiac stress tests, MIBI's and stress Echo as well as holter and event monitors. Call is shared evenly between the members and involves Internal medicine consults as well as ICU. The ICU has 6 beds and is a closed unit, run by the Internists.

Future expansion may include the initiation of a pacemaker clinic, palliative care program, and we would invite additional ideas to improve outpatient care of chronic illness. Come be a part of the excitement and advancement of care at EKRH.

Qualifications:

  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Eligible for full licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.

Call Schedule:

  • Hours of work: Full Time
  • On call requirements: 1:4 -1:5

    • $400,000 plus MOCAP Level 1

  • Additional Incentives
    • Recruitment bonus: $20,000
    • Relocation: $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location

    • Annual retention fee: $14, 076
    • RCME: Up to 2 years $1,800; In 3rd & 4th year $4,800; after 4 years $7,800
