Located one and a half hours west of Ottawa, the Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) is a full service medium sized hospital. We deliver a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents in the Upper Ottawa Valley. We are currently recruiting two additional physicians to join a team of three.
We envision growing our internal medicine program to include five general internists who will provide inpatient and emergency department consultations, and care for patients in the ICU. Internists often serve as the most responsible physician for intensive care patients. The department of internal medicine will provide a daily ambulatory clinic for urgent consultations, and post-discharge follow up. Internists share the interpretation of available diagnostic tests. This area has potential for growth once additional internists bolster the current team. Interested physicians will have the opportunity for a community-based practice including the possibility of providing specialist consultation at one of the community's Family Health Teams.
