Rural Family Medicine Opportunities - Eastern Nova Scotia

Full-time, part-time, and locum opportunities are available in eastern Nova Scotia for family physicians. There is opportunity to engage in research and/or teaching with Dalhousie University, should that be of interest.

Family practice teams enjoy a wide scope of practice and a variety of practice arrangements that can be tailored to suit your interests, training and expertise. Collaborative and traditional office positions, clinic positions, emergency and hospitalist shifts are available, as is the potential to cover local long term care facilities. Also, opportunities in sports medicine, addiction medicine, OR assists, obstetrics, psychiatry, and ambulatory clinics for minor procedures are available.

Here, the view of a lifetime lives around every corner, and the friendliest people live in every community. Hike, cycle, swim, golf – all in an almost unreal beauty.  This part of the province is home to two regional hospitals, located in Antigonish and Sydney, 11 community hospitals, and one Collaborative Emergency Centre serving towns nestled between the mountains and sea.  St. Martha’s Regional Hospital serves a population of nearly 40,000 from Antigonish, Guysborough, and surrounding communities. With approximately 90 beds for all in-patient care, Family Physicians at St. Martha’s are joined by our colleagues in General Surgery, Internal Medicine (general and subspecialty), Geriatrics, Hospitalists, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Anesthesia, Radiology (U/S, CT, MRI, ECHO), Palliative Care and visiting Oncology and Neurology.
